Quarter Note Scholarship Campaign - Spring/Summer Annually Identifying a void in the local community for educational summer youth activities, Professor James Paterson of the Clark-Atlanta University Music Department, took it upon himself to provide a five-day music camp for Georgia's middle and high school students. With a small army of clinicians, Professor Patterson introduces students to jazz history and jazz theory, then prepares them to perform a free end of summer concert each year, performed by the students in the Clark-Atlanta University Music and Arts Complex for sponsors and the general public. This summer camp recieves no financial assistance and no student is turned away if they have the interest in Jazz performance. Therefore, The Southeastern Organization for Jazz Arts is proud to support the Duke Pearson Summer camp through the Quarter Note Scholarship Campaign, a grassroots fundraising campaign seeking support from local small to medium sized businesses to allow us to set up jars to collect quarters from customers to help provide Georgia's students with scholarships, instruments, and sheet music. Your donation just may help to develop the next Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller or Beethoven!
